Glenda Suttman Handbuilt Pottery

Artist Statement

I am a self taught clay artist who incorporates various textures in her hand building.  I am always looking at objects and wondering what kind of imprint the item will leave in clay.  My work is influenced by the time spent as a child in my mother's bakery where she baked elaborate wedding and theme cakes.  Many handbuilding techniques are similar to baking.  The best part?  No calories!

I am an accountant by education and now project manage software implementations and development projects.  Clay allows me the freedom to 'color outside of the lines' and express myself in a creative outlet. Some of my addictions, handbags and flowers, will sometimes appear in my work.

I love it when someone looks at my work and comments that they have not seen anything like it.
